The Aryavarth Express Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday paid tribute to freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary, remembering him as a leader who made a significant contribution to India’s freedom struggle.
Speaking to reporters, CM Saini said Subhas Chandra Bose played a crucial role in the independence movement and urged citizens to work collectively towards fulfilling his vision of a developed India.
“Today marks the birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose. He was a great leader who made a valuable contribution to the freedom movement. Because of leaders like him, we live in a free nation today. I bow before him,” Saini said. He added that it was the responsibility of every citizen to follow the path shown by Netaji and contribute to the journey towards a ‘Viksit Bharat,’ which he said has been strengthened under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on the occasion of his birth anniversary, which is observed as Parakram Diwas. The Prime Minister recalled Bose’s courage, resolve, and patriotism, stating that his ideals continue to inspire generations.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “On the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, commemorated as Parakram Diwas, we remember his indomitable courage, resolve, and unparalleled contribution to the nation.” He further described Bose as a symbol of fearless leadership and unwavering patriotism.
Subhas Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha. He founded the Azad Hind Fauj and remains one of India’s most prominent freedom fighters. While there has been long-standing controversy surrounding his death, the central government stated in a 2017 RTI response that Bose died in a plane crash in Taipei on August 18, 1945.
In 2021, the Union government officially declared January 23 as Parakram Diwas to commemorate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
