New Delhi— In a major boost for the 2025 season of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), three West Indies T20 icons—Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, and Dwayne Bravo—have returned to action, reuniting under the banner of West Indies Champions.
This power-packed lineup is further bolstered by the likes of Sheldon Cottrell, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Shannon Gabriel, and the legendary Shivnarine Chanderpaul, promising a thrilling campaign for the Caribbean outfit.
Chris Gayle, popularly known as the “Universe Boss”, will once again lead the side. Reflecting on his return, Gayle said via a WCL press release:
“Last year, I promised fans that the next season would be even bigger—and here we are. I’m back as captain of the West Indies Champions, alongside my brothers Bravo and Pollard. With this squad, expect fireworks. West Indies cricket is in our blood—and we’re here to win.”
Dwayne Bravo, one of the most successful all-rounders in T20 history with 631 wickets in 582 matches, expressed his excitement:
“It’s a great feeling to represent the West Indies again. Playing with and against old friends and legends is something I cherish. Polly and I go way back, and now we get to wear the maroon once more in this global legends tournament.”
Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard echoed the sentiment, adding:
“We’ve shared countless memories playing together, both for the West Indies and in leagues around the world. To reunite on this stage, wearing these colours again, is special. This was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”
Ajay Sethi, owner of the West Indies Champions, called the trio’s return a moment of historical significance:
“This is like reliving a golden era of West Indies cricket.” Gayle, Bravo, and Pollard have been pillars of our T20 success. Their comeback is more than just a headline—it’s an emotional moment for fans worldwide and a tribute to their legendary status.”
Sanctioned by the England & Wales Cricket Board, the World Championship of Legends is the premier T20 league dedicated to retired international stars. With the West Indies Champions fielding one of the tournament’s most exciting rosters, fans can expect a nostalgic yet fiercely competitive season.
