Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh: New allegations have emerged against Swami Avimukteshwaranand, with complainant Ashutosh Brahmachari claiming that multiple individuals, including senior ashram functionaries and certain “VIPs,” were involved in alleged misconduct with young disciples.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Brahmachari alleged that the misconduct extended beyond the main accused and named individuals including Prakash Upadhyay, Balmukundanand, and Arvind. He also claimed that a Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh was indirectly supporting the seer. Additionally, he questioned the religious credentials of Swami Avimukteshwaranand and alleged the involvement of foreign funding.
The allegations follow an order by a Special POCSO Court in Prayagraj directing the registration of an FIR against Swami Avimukteshwaranand and others in connection with alleged sexual abuse of minors. The court instructed police to conduct a fair and independent investigation while ensuring the protection of the victims’ identity and dignity.
An FIR was subsequently registered at Jhunsi Police Station on the directions of ADJ (Rape and POCSO Special Court) Vinod Kumar Chaurasia. The order was issued on an application filed under Section 173(4) by Brahmachari, who is a disciple of Swami Rambhadracharya.
Brahmachari further alleged that incidents took place at religious premises, including Vidyamath in Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh, and levelled additional accusations against certain ashram office-bearers.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand has denied the allegations, describing them as fabricated attempts to defame him and harm Sanatan Dharma. There has been no immediate response from the other individuals named in the complaint.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
