The Aryavarth Express Gandhinagar (Gujarat): A fire broke out at a chemical factory in the Sachin GIDC industrial area of Surat on Wednesday, prompting a swift response from firefighting teams.
According to officials, more than 10 fire engines were deployed to the site to control the blaze, and firefighting operations were ongoing. Authorities have not reported any casualties so far, and further details are awaited.
Meanwhile, officials also referred to a separate fire incident that occurred earlier this week at the Millennium-1 Textile Market in Surat. The fire was brought under control after around 15 fire engines were rushed to the location.
Chief Fire Officer Basant Parikh said several shops were damaged in the incident.
“Fire engines rushed to douse the flames at the Kamela Darwaja hub, where five to seven shops, including a godown, were destroyed in the textile market. The fire is now under control and no casualties have been reported,” he said.
Parikh added that another fire was reported at Millennium Market near Sahara Darwaja, where 18 fire engines were deployed to control the situation.
According to shopkeepers, the fire may have started after a blast in an air conditioner unit, though officials are still assessing the exact cause.
