“Bihar CM Announces Incubation Centre at NIT Patna”

Agency(Patna): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended the centenary year celebration of the Bihar College of Engineering (BCE)-National Institute of Technology Patna (NIT-P) and announced plans for establishing an incubation centre on the NIT campus. He directed officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the incubation centre and assured that funds for its construction would be released within a week.

Reflecting on his personal connection with the institute, the Chief Minister recalled his days as a student, expressing great pleasure in returning to his alma mater. He mentioned that it had been 51 years since he graduated from the institute, which had a strength of 500 students during his time. Nitish Kumar reminisced about the student union elections and the support he received from fellow students.

He also highlighted the significant developments in the institute during his tenure as a minister in the Atal government. Under his advocacy, the Bihar College of Engineering, then the sixth engineering college in the country, was granted the status of an NIT in 2004. He noted the growth of the institute from 500 students during his time to 5000 students now.

The Chief Minister mentioned the ongoing construction of Patna Medical College and Hospital, which is planned to have 5,462 beds, with a portion of it nearing completion. He expected the entire project to be finished within two years.

The announcement of the incubation centre is a testament to the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement in the state. The annual alumni meet, organized by the BCE-NIT Patna Alumni Society, marked the completion of 100 years of the college, celebrating its legacy and ongoing contributions to the field of engineering and technology.
