“Andhra Pradesh Partners with IB for Education Reform”

Agency (Amaravati): The Andhra Pradesh government, in a significant move towards educational reform, has decided to partner with the Geneva-based International Baccalaureate (IB) organization. This collaboration is aimed at training teachers and staff of government schools in handling the IB syllabus, which is set to be introduced from the academic year 2025-26.

In a state Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the government also resolved to recruit 6,100 teachers for government schools and fill 689 vacancies in the forest department. This meeting, held at the state Secretariat, saw the approval of several other key decisions.

The Cabinet ratified new investment proposals, amounting to Rs. 22,302 crore, for green energy projects approved by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB). Additionally, it decided to increase the retirement age of non-teaching staff in universities and higher educational institutions to 62 and to fill 27 vacancies in the Legislature secretariat.

February’s welfare calendar was approved, with the Cabinet allocating Rs 5,060 crores for the fourth tranche of the YSR Cheyutha scheme, benefitting nearly 27 lakh women from SC, ST, Backward Class, and minority communities.

Further decisions included the appointment of Secretaries for all 13,171 Village Panchayats with populations over 500, the creation of a Registrar post in RGUKT, and the authorization for APDISCOMS to raise a Rs 1,500 crore loan for extending the distribution network.

The Cabinet agreed to allot land to Greenko Pvt Ltd and IIT City in Nandyal and Tirupati districts, respectively, reduce VAT on natural gas, amend the Advocates Welfare Fund rules, and implement recommendations from the Fourth State Finance Commission and the Government Life Insurance Fund 2024 proposals.

Moreover, the Cabinet decided to waive registration and user charges for families displaced by the Pulichintala Project and establish the Andhra Pradesh Legislature Institute of Legislative Study and Training. It also approved the allotment of house sites to notable sports personalities Alana Meenakshi Kolagatla and Saketh Myneni.

These decisions represent a comprehensive approach by the Andhra Pradesh government to enhance education, energy, welfare, and administrative efficiency, reflecting a commitment to statewide development and progress.
