New Delhi: The Delhi Police have made significant progress in their investigation into the Red Fort blast, with CCTV footage and dump data analysis emerging as key leads in tracing those behind the deadly explosion.
According to officials, CCTV footage captured the suspected car entering and exiting the Red Fort parking area shortly before the blast. The driver appeared to be alone, police sources said. Investigators are now scrutinising the vehicle’s route towards Daryaganj, examining more than 100 CCTV clips, including from nearby toll plazas, to map its complete movement.
The explosion, which occurred near the historic Red Fort complex, killed eight people and left several others injured, triggering panic and prompting an extensive security operation. Teams from the Special Cell, Crime Branch, and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were immediately deployed to the site, which was sealed off as visitors were evacuated.
Sources said that investigative agencies are also conducting a detailed technical analysis of communication records, including dump data from mobile phones active in and around the Red Fort at the time of the blast. The data could help identify communication between suspects and possible accomplices before and after the explosion.
Officers have also obtained dump data from the Red Fort parking area and nearby zones, suspecting that those in the car were in contact with others coordinating the attack. The analysis has been extended to Faridabad, where investigators are examining possible communication links with individuals connected to the incident.
Additionally, IPDR (Internet Protocol Detail Record) analysis is being used to trace devices that went inactive soon after the explosion—potentially suggesting attempts to evade detection.
A senior Delhi Police officer said,
“The technical evidence, including dump data and CCTV footage, has provided vital clues. We are verifying each lead and coordinating closely with central agencies.”
Following the blast, security has been heightened across the capital, especially around heritage monuments, metro stations, and crowded market areas. Sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads conducted multiple searches around the Red Fort precinct, while traffic on Netaji Subhash Marg and adjoining roads was diverted for several hours as a precaution.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Explosive Substances Act, as investigations continue to determine the full extent of the network behind the attack.
