New Delhi: Delhi’s crime scenario showed a notable improvement in 2025, with significant reductions reported in serious offences such as murder, robbery, and rape, according to data released by the Delhi Police.
Murder cases decreased to 491 in 2025 from 506 in 2023, with an impressive detection rate of 95.32 per cent. Attempted murder cases stood at 854, with a detection rate of 98.13 per cent, one of the highest among major crime categories.
Robbery incidents also saw a decline, falling from 1,654 in 2023 to 1,326 in 2025, with 97.51 per cent of cases solved. Rape cases dropped from 2,141 in 2023 to 1,901 in 2025, accompanied by a detection rate of 97.11 per cent.
Crimes against women, including molestation and eve-teasing, followed the same downward trend. Molestation cases fell from 2,345 in 2023 to 1,708 in 2025, with 95.20 per cent detection, while eve-teasing incidents dropped to 337, with an 89.02 per cent detection rate.
Despite the overall improvement, certain areas remain a concern. Street crimes such as snatching fell from 7,886 in 2023 to 5,406 in 2025, but the detection rate was lower at 64.22 per cent. Extortion cases stood at 212, with 63.68 per cent resolved.
Delhi Police highlighted that intensified night patrolling, expanded CCTV and facial recognition coverage, and targeted operations against repeat offenders have contributed to the declining crime trend. Authorities said these measures will continue to strengthen public safety and further reduce crime across the city.
