New Delhi: The Delhi Police Special Cell has uncovered a terror module with suspected links to Pakistan, arresting three more individuals and bringing the total number of arrests to five. The other two suspects were taken into custody earlier.
According to officials, the group maintained communication with Pakistan-based handlers through multiple encrypted and social media platforms, which are currently under investigation. A key member of the module, identified as Ashraf Danish, is believed to have coordinated activities from within India while maintaining active contact with foreign operatives.
The investigation has revealed that the suspects used social media to radicalise Indian youth and recruit them into the network. Authorities also found that the group operated several online channels aimed at inciting communal hatred and disrupting religious harmony.
Raids were conducted across four to five states, with around eight individuals questioned. Of the five arrested so far, two are from Delhi, and one each from Madhya Pradesh, Hyderabad, and Ranchi.
A significant cache of material was recovered from Danish, including a country-made pistol, live ammunition, chemicals such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and sulphur powder, as well as copper sheets, ball bearings, strip wires, electronic circuits, laptops, mobile phones, and cash. Police believe these items were intended for the manufacture of weapons and explosives.
The investigation is ongoing.
