Chaibasa (Jharkhand), April 6: A जवान from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast during an anti-Naxal operation in the Saranda forest region of Jharkhand, police officials said.
The घायल जवान was immediately airlifted to Ranchi for advanced medical evaluation and treatment. Authorities have stated that further details about the incident are still awaited.
Top Maoist Leader Prashant Bose Passes Away
In a separate development, senior CPI (Maoist) leader Prashant Bose, also known as ‘Kishan da’, passed away on Thursday while undergoing treatment in Ranchi.
Bose, 82, had been lodged in Birsa Munda Jail and was suffering from multiple health issues. He was later shifted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), where he died during treatment, according to hospital authorities.
A senior figure in the Naxal movement since the 1960s, Bose carried a bounty of ₹1 crore. He was arrested in November 2021 from Jharkhand’s Kolhan region along with his wife, Sheela Marandi, and other Maoist members during a targeted police operation.
Officials had described his arrest as a major success, noting his influence across several states, including Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh.
Push Towards Naxal-Free India
The incident comes as security forces continue intensified operations against Naxal groups. Coordinated efforts by security agencies, local administration, and communities are contributing to the government’s goal of achieving a Naxal-free India, with a target set for March 31, 2026.
