The Aryavarth Express Mysore (Karnataka): A Congress worker from the Mysore District Committee, KP Bhagyaraj, has written to party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, urging him to appoint DK Shivakumar as the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
In the letter, Bhagyaraj highlighted Shivakumar’s “sacrifice and contribution” to the party, citing his role in safeguarding Congress governments during political crises in other states. He pointed to Shivakumar’s intervention in Maharashtra when Vilas Rao Deshmukh’s government was at risk of collapse and alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party was responsible for Shivakumar’s imprisonment in Tihar Jail following central investigations.
The letter credited Shivakumar’s tenure as Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president for helping the party secure 136 seats in the last Assembly elections. Bhagyaraj wrote that his efforts and dedication to the party had been instrumental in strengthening Congress in Karnataka.
He concluded by requesting the AICC leadership to elevate Shivakumar to the Chief Minister’s post, noting that the move would honor his service and sacrifice for the party.
Currently, Siddaramaiah serves as Karnataka’s Chief Minister, while DK Shivakumar holds the position of Deputy Chief Minister.
