The Winter Session of Parliament—comprising the 6th Session of the 18th Lok Sabha and the 269th Session of the Rajya Sabha—began on December 1 and will run until December 19.
A key highlight in the Lok Sabha today will be a special discussion on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to participate, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah will initiate the discussion in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, December 9. The BJP-led NDA has been allotted three hours for its share of the debate in the Lok Sabha, out of a total of 10 hours scheduled across both Houses.
The day’s proceedings will begin at 11 am with Question Hour, followed by the laying of papers on the Table by several ministers, including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat (Culture), Jayant Chaudhary (Education), Pankaj Chaudhary (Finance), Shobha Karandlaje (Labour and Employment), Kirti Vardhan Singh (Environment, Forest and Climate Change), and Harsh Malhotra (Corporate Affairs).
The House will also witness the presentation of the Tenth Report of the Standing Committee on Energy by Shrirang Appa Barne and Shrikant Eknath Shinde, focusing on the performance evaluation of solar power projects across the country. Additional statements detailing government action on previous committee recommendations related to the power and renewable energy ministries will also be laid.
Rajeev Rai and Angomcha Bimol Akoijam will present the 371st Report of the Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports, covering autonomous bodies under the Education Ministry—including NTA, NAAC, ICHR, ICPR, ICSSR, IIAS (Shimla), and the Auroville Foundation.
Furthermore, Bhartuhari Mahtab and Jayanta Kumar Roy will table Standing Committee on Finance statements outlining government responses to earlier reports on the Demands for Grants 2024–25 for the Ministries of Finance, Corporate Affairs, NITI Aayog, and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
Five action-taken statements for 2025–26 will also be laid by Brijmohan Agarwal and Sanjay Jaiswal on behalf of the Committee on Estimates. These cover reviews of solar parks, the PMGSY rural roads scheme, Green Highways under NHDP, the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, and the PM MITRA textile parks initiative.
