Bengaluru, December 23:
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that a committee constituted by the state Home Minister will examine the issue of permission for hosting cricket matches at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
“There is a committee formed by the Home Minister which will look into the matter. All decisions will be taken based on the committee’s recommendations,” the Chief Minister said.
Addressing queries about the upcoming Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting scheduled for December 27 in Delhi, Siddaramaiah clarified that only CWC members have been invited. “I am not a member of the CWC. Only its members have been called,” he told reporters.
Earlier in the day, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar dismissed speculation surrounding his visit to Delhi, stating that it was strictly for official purposes. He said he had come to meet Union Ministers to discuss state-related issues such as irrigation and urban development, and not for any political deliberations.
“I have not come here for politics. My visit is only to meet Union Ministers regarding our state’s issues. I don’t want to comment on other political matters that are not on the agenda,” Shivakumar said.
His remarks come amid renewed speculation over a possible rotational chief ministership arrangement, with rumours resurfacing about a “two-and-a-half-year” power-sharing agreement as the Congress-led government has crossed the halfway point of its term.
Meanwhile, Shivakumar strongly criticised the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, describing it as “the beginning of the end.” He argued that the revised funding structure, which requires states to contribute 40 per cent, would make the scheme unviable.
“Which state government can give 40 per cent? No state, including those ruled by the BJP, can do this. This scheme will fail in the future,” he said while speaking to reporters in the national capital.
