Agency(Bengaluru): A heart-wrenching event unfolded in Bengaluru, where a 24-year-old woman, identified only as Chinna, is accused of causing the death of her two-year-old daughter by smothering her with a pillow. Following this devastating act, Chinna attempted to end her own life. The incident occurred in the eastern part of Bengaluru, specifically in KR Puram, at around 10 am on March 17 and came to light recently.
Chinna, who is currently under medical care in a private hospital, reportedly attempted suicide by cutting her wrist and attempting to slit her throat. This series of events took place when her husband, Lakshminarayana, was away from their home. The police were alerted to the situation following a complaint by Lakshminarayana, leading to Chinna being charged with murder.
An investigating officer provided details of the events, stating that they are waiting for Chinna to recover before taking her statement. “We have initiated the complaint based on her husband’s account. We’ll proceed to take her statement and consider her arrest post her recovery,” explained the officer. The couple, originally from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, had been residing near KR Puram in Seegehalli for the past three months.
Prior to the tragedy, Chinna had reached out to her mother, expressing her emotional turmoil in a conversation that ended abruptly, raising concerns. Alarmed by the sudden end of the call, her mother contacted Chinna’s neighbors, urging them to check on her. Around this time, the neighbors heard Chinna’s cries emanating from her residence. Upon discovering the door locked from the inside, they forcefully entered the home and immediately transported Chinna and her daughter to the hospital. Tragically, the child was declared dead upon arrival, according to the medical staff.
This distressing incident has cast a shadow over the community, prompting discussions on mental health and the pressures facing individuals in crisis. As the investigation continues, many are left seeking answers to the numerous questions surrounding this tragic event.
