Agency(Tripura): During a recent election rally in Agartala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress party, alleging it had a history of exploiting eastern India with what he termed a ‘loot’ east policy. He contrasted this with the BJP’s ‘Act East’ policy, which he claims has significantly transformed Tripura and bolstered the region’s connectivity and infrastructure.

Modi highlighted the developmental strides made under the BJP’s governance, including the celebration of Lord Ram’s birth in a newly established temple in Ayodhya after five centuries. The Prime Minister also announced ambitious housing projects, stating his government plans to construct three crore new houses for the poor across India, promising substantial benefits for the people of Tripura.

In terms of infrastructure, Modi detailed a Rs 3,000 crore initiative to enhance state highways and improve digital connectivity, moving towards robust 5G coverage. He also claimed that under his administration, mobile phone bills had been significantly reduced compared to what they might have been under Congress.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to attack the opposition further, citing hypocrisy in their critiques of investigative agencies while simultaneously calling for corruption investigations into other political figures. Modi’s remarks underscored his campaign’s focus on portraying the BJP as a catalyst for economic and infrastructural development in the Northeast, in stark contrast to the policies of previous Congress administrations.
