Obscene Noida Scooter Video Incurs Hefty Fines

A controversial scooter-riding video leads to fines totaling Rs 80,500 and an FIR for obscenity and traffic violations in Noida.

Agency(New Delhi): In Noida, a video depicting three individuals on a scooter, described by netizens as ‘vulgar,’ has prompted the Traffic Police to levy a second fine of Rs 47,500 against them. This penalty comes on the heels of an initial fine of Rs 33,000 for similar infractions, bringing the total fines to Rs 80,500. The video, which gained attention after being shared on social media, showcased two women and a man engaging in behavior deemed inappropriate for public viewing, in addition to violating traffic regulations by not wearing helmets.

Officials announced that the scooter’s owner faced charges under multiple counts of negligence and breaches of the Motor Vehicles Act, reflecting the seriousness with which the traffic police are addressing the situation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumar Yadav highlighted the cumulative penalties and reiterated the importance of adhering to traffic laws and safety measures, such as wearing helmets and seat belts.

An FIR related to the incident was filed at the Sector 113 police station in Noida, based on a complaint by a local sub-inspector. The complaint outlines that the scooter was driven recklessly while the passengers engaged in acts deemed obscene for the purpose of video production, which was subsequently distributed online, sparking public outrage.

The legal charges encompass several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rash driving, creating a public nuisance, and committing obscene acts in public spaces, with additional charges for endangering the lives and safety of others. Police have indicated that further legal actions are pending as the case progresses.
