Agency(Bengaluru): In a significant development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced the apprehension of Muzammil Shareef, a major participant in the conspiracy behind the explosion at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe. This arrest, made on Wednesday, came as part of a comprehensive operation where NIA operatives conducted searches at 18 sites across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.

The NIA, having taken charge of the investigation on March 3, had previously identified Mussavir Shazeeb Hussain as the individual who executed the bombing. Another associate, Abdul Matheen Taha, implicated in this case and sought for other offenses, remains elusive along with Hussain.

Investigations have unveiled that Shareef played a crucial role by providing logistical support to Hussain and Taha for the attack, which took place on March 1 at the cafe situated on ITPL Road, Brookefield, Bengaluru. The incident resulted in injuries to numerous patrons and staff, some critically, while also causing significant damage to the establishment.

The NIA’s recent operations included raids on the residences and commercial establishments linked to these three suspects, as well as other individuals under suspicion. These efforts led to the seizure of various digital devices and cash. The agency is actively pursuing the remaining fugitives and is dedicated to uncovering the full scope of the conspiracy behind the tragic event.
