New Delhi: The government has appointed Captain Jagmohan (Retd.) as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL). The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) following a proposal from the Department of Defence Production.
Capt. Jagmohan, who currently holds the position of Director (Corporate Planning, Projects and Business Development) at Goa Shipyard Limited, will take over as CMD of MDL in relaxation of the standard eligibility norms. His tenure will extend until his superannuation on September 30, 2029, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
According to the official ACC release, Capt. Jagmohan’s appointment is in the pay scale of ₹2,00,000–₹3,70,000 (IDA).
In a related development, the ACC also approved the appointment of four senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers as Members of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). The appointees—all from the 1989 batch of the IRS (Income Tax)—include:
Pankaj Kumar Mishra, former Member (Finance), Atomic Energy Commission
Sanjay Bahadur, former Principal Director General of Income Tax (Training), Delhi
L Rajasekhar Reddy, former Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Chennai, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry
G. Aparna Rao, former Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-1, Bengaluru, Karnataka & Goa
These appointments aim to strengthen the leadership teams at both MDL and CBDT, ensuring continuity and expertise in key government sectors.
