Bangalore: The Border Security Force (BSF) Subsidiary Training Centre (STC) in Yelahanka, Bangalore, conducted a large-scale mock drill focused on firefighting and casualty evacuation today, aimed at enhancing emergency response capabilities among its personnel.
The exercise was held at the STC stadium and witnessed the participation of four recruit trainee companies along with instructor staff. The drill was conducted under the supervision of Sh. D.K. Yadav, IPS, Inspector General, STC BSF Bangalore, with senior officers Sh. Harender Kumar, 2IC (Administration), and Sh. Arvind Kumar, 2IC (Training), also in attendance.
During the simulation, trainees showcased their proficiency in handling fire emergencies and executing effective casualty evacuation techniques. The scenario-based drill assessed the preparedness of the BSF teams to respond swiftly and efficiently in high-pressure situations.
Following the exercise, Deputy Commandant (Administration) Sh. Anil Kumar Meena addressed the personnel, outlining essential dos and don’ts during mock drills to maximise safety and effectiveness.
Adding a medical perspective, Smt Shafina Sawhney, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of STC Hospital, briefed the trainees on the nature of injuries that may occur in such incidents and best practices in medical response and casualty management.
IG D.K. Yadav emphasised the critical need for conducting such drills on a regular basis, highlighting that preparedness is the key to minimising risks during real emergencies. He lauded the dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm of the trainees and staff involved in the exercise.
This mock drill served as a crucial training module, reinforcing the BSF’s commitment to operational readiness and the safety of its personnel through continuous learning and practice.
