Taiwan Minister Yiong and MPs mark the 60th Anniversary of Tibetan Democracy Day

Taipei, Taiwan (Aryavarth): Honourable Minister Yiong Con-ziin, Hakka Affairs Council, MP Freddy Lim who is also the Chair of the Taiwanese parliamentary group for Tibet, MP Mewo Woya and former MP Yu Mei-nu attended the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Tibetan democracy.

Chief guest Minister Yiong Con-ziin in his remarks extolled the Tibetan democratic evolution in the past 60 years.

The esteemed personalities hailed the successful celebration of the “Year of Gratitude” to His Holiness the Dalai Lama by the Office of Tibet, Taiwan, and further, commended the initiative of the Tibetan associations for producing the documentary introducing the evolution of Tibetan democracy.

While encouraging diversity of views and expressions in a democracy, they also unanimously called for caution against China’s insidious propaganda and disinformation tactics.

Taiwanese MP Freddy Lim expressed his hope to visit the Central Tibetan Administration along with the other members of the parliamentary group of Tibet.

MP Hung Sun-han said that Tibetans have successfully walked the path of democracy and together with Taiwan, the two democracies must unify their combined strength to face the Communist Chines expansionist ambitions.

Kasur Kirti Rinpoche in his address appealed the Tibetans to protect and strengthen the gift of democracy delivered by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and stated that Tibetans who are eligible to vote for the upcoming general election must do so in fair conduct.

Besides the MPs of Taiwan, the event was attended by representatives of Taiwan Tibet-China associations, and Taiwan Friends of Tibet organisations who also delivered speeches, followed by the vote of thanks from Tibetan associations President Tenzin Namdhak.

The event was attended by about 70 Tibetans including Tibetan supporters.
