Hyderabad: A bomb threat received via email caused panic at the Hyderabad City Civil Court on Tuesday, prompting a large-scale security response. According to police, the threat was sent in the early hours at 3:15 AM, but court officials discovered the email only around 11:00 AM and immediately alerted the authorities.
The police swiftly deployed bomb squads and security personnel to comb the court premises thoroughly. “The bomb squad and other officials are conducting a detailed search. So far, nothing suspicious has been found. We will share further updates as the investigation progresses,” a police official stated.
This incident follows a recent pattern of bomb threats targeting public institutions across the country, many of which turned out to be hoaxes.
On Sunday, Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj International Airport also received a bomb threat email, which was later confirmed as a false alarm. Similarly, on June 26, a scare at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3 was triggered by a note found onboard a flight. Emergency protocols were activated, but no bomb was found.
Earlier this year, on April 22, the Gauhati High Court in Assam also faced a bomb threat via email from an anonymous source. That too turned out to be a hoax. Another dual scare occurred on April 10 at Delhi’s iconic Red Fort and Jama Masjid, both of which were cleared by bomb squads.
One of the largest such threats occurred on February 7, when over 400 schools across Delhi and Noida received threatening emails. Police later traced the threats to a juvenile, leading to his arrest. Union Minister Piyush Goyal condemned these repeated threats, calling them “attempts by depraved minds to destabilise social harmony and hinder national progress.”
As the Hyderabadincident remains under investigation, authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
