New Delhi: The family of Delhi’s Chief Minister-elect Rekha Gupta is overjoyed and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the BJP leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rekha Gupta is set to become Delhi’s fourth woman Chief Minister, following in the footsteps of Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit, and Atishi.
Her mother-in-law, Meera Gupta, expressed her blessings, saying, “May she continue to grow and serve the people and society.” Gupta’s sister-in-law shared the family’s happiness, while her husband, Manish Gupta, acknowledged the party leadership’s trust, stating, “I sincerely thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the entire BJP leadership for their faith in Rekha ji.”
As the news of her victory spread, celebrations erupted among her supporters, marking a historic moment for the party.
After being elected as the BJP Legislative Party leader in Delhi on Wednesday, Rekha Gupta expressed her gratitude to the party and its leadership. Speaking to the media, she said, “I thank the BJP and all of you for your blessings.”
In a post on X, she wrote, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the top leadership for entrusting me with this responsibility. Your trust and support have given me new energy and inspiration. I pledge to serve with honesty, integrity, and dedication for the welfare, empowerment, and overall development of every citizen of Delhi. I am fully committed to taking Delhi to new heights.”
Meanwhile, celebrations took place outside her residence as enthusiastic supporters gathered to mark the occasion.
Rekha Gupta, who secured her victory from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, will take the oath of office on Thursday at Ramlila Maidan. BJP central observers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankar were present during the meeting of newly elected MLAs.
This marks a significant political shift, as the BJP returns to power in Delhi after 27 years. The party secured a decisive mandate with 48 seats in the recent elections, defeating the Aam Aadmi Party. Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony on Thursday are in full swing.
