Patna (Bihar), April 12: Bihar Governor Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd) and Director General of Police Vinay Kumar on Sunday took part in the ‘Raftaar-e-Sukoon’ marathon आयोजित for senior citizens in Patna, highlighting the importance of fitness and active ageing.
Speaking to reporters, the Governor lauded the initiative and emphasized the need for such events to be held regularly. He noted that fitness has become a global priority and recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared June 21 as International Yoga Day to encourage healthier lifestyles. He added that initiatives like this marathon should continue throughout the year to sustain awareness around health and wellness.
The ‘Raftaar-e-Sukoon’ marathon aims to encourage senior citizens to stay active and adopt healthier lifestyles, reinforcing the message that age should not be a barrier to fitness.
Meanwhile, in New Delhi, the ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ campaign saw enthusiastic participation from people across age groups. Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the initiative has grown into a nationwide movement, inspiring citizens—especially the youth—to embrace fitness.
He stressed that a healthy population is key to building a strong and prosperous nation, adding that the ‘Fit India’ movement is essential for achieving the vision of a developed India. Launched in December 2024 under his guidance, the cycling initiative continues to gain momentum as a symbol of community-driven wellness.
