Jalandhar: Resounding chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ filled the air at Adampur Air Base in Punjab as Prime Minister Narendra Modi met and lauded the Air Warriors and soldiers involved in the successful Operation Sindoor. The visit came days after India’s bold and precise strikes against terror camps across the border.

The Prime Minister arrived at Air Force Station Adampur early Tuesday morning, where he was warmly received by personnel who played a key role in the operation. The mood at the base was jubilant, as troops celebrated their achievements with visible pride.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi described the visit as a “very special experience” and expressed deep gratitude to the armed forces. “It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation,” the Prime Minister said.

During his visit, PM Modi was also briefed by senior Air Force officers on the strategic aspects of Operation Sindoor, which saw coordinated action by the Indian Air Force, Army, Navy, and paramilitary forces.

Air Marshal AK Bharti, Director General of Air Operations, had earlier stated that the focus of Operation Sindoor was clear: targeting terrorist infrastructure while avoiding confrontation with the Pakistani military or civilian population. “Our fight is with the terrorists. It is not with the Pakistan Military or its civilians. Our targeting was precise and focused,” said Air Marshal Bharti.

He further emphasized the strength of India’s indigenous defence systems and operational readiness. “Our trained air defence operators and counter systems have proven that we are fully capable. No matter what technology is used against us, we are prepared to respond effectively. The results speak for themselves,” he added.

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 as a direct response to the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, in which 26 tourists were killed. The operation involved a series of targeted air, land, and sea strikes on terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (PoK).

The multi-pronged offensive led to the elimination of over 100 terrorists and the destruction of 11 terror-linked air bases, significantly impairing enemy capabilities. Officials stressed that the operation was executed with calibrated precision to minimize civilian casualties.

In a national address on Monday, PM Modi underscored the government’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. “Our forces have full freedom to eliminate terrorists. After the surgical strike and the air strike, Operation Sindoor is now a new standard in India’s fight against terrorism,” he said.

He further stated that India will make no distinction between those who perpetrate terrorism and those who support it. “Every terrorist organization now knows the cost of trying to harm our daughters and sisters. Operation Sindoor has redefined our response strategy—decisive, restrained, and resolute.”

The operation has drawn widespread domestic support, with analysts viewing it as a strong demonstration of India’s resolve to counter terrorism beyond its borders.
