Bengaluru (Karnataka): Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru on Tuesday issued a passenger advisory cautioning travellers about possible flight delays and road traffic congestion over the coming days due to forecasted dense fog and low visibility.
In the advisory, airport authorities warned that foggy conditions—especially during early morning hours—could affect flight operations and slow traffic movement on routes leading to the airport.
“Due to forecasted low visibility caused by fog over the next few days, there may be flight delays and road traffic congestion on the routes to the airport,” the advisory stated.
Passengers have been advised to plan their journeys carefully and arrive at the airport well in advance to allow sufficient time for check-in, security screening and other travel formalities. Travellers were also urged to stay in touch with their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules.
Airport officials assured passengers that assistance would be available and shared helpline numbers for support, adding that necessary measures are being taken to minimise the impact of adverse weather conditions.
Earlier in the day, IndiGo Airlines also issued a winter travel advisory, warning that early morning fog across parts of northern India could lead to slower flight movements and possible delays.
“As winter sets in, early mornings across Northern India can bring fog that may occasionally slow down flight movements. We wanted to share this gentle heads-up in advance so you can plan with ease and check your flight status before heading to the airport,” the airline said in a statement.
IndiGo assured passengers that its operations and ground teams are fully prepared and closely monitoring weather conditions, with operational adjustments being made wherever possible to reduce inconvenience and ensure passenger comfort during any waiting time.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport also issued a fog advisory on Tuesday morning, warning of potential disruptions to flight operations due to reduced visibility. In a post on X around 6:06 am, Delhi Airport said flight operations were gradually recovering, though disruptions could continue for some arrivals and departures.
Passengers were advised to check directly with airlines for accurate and timely updates. The airport also confirmed that ground staff had been deployed across terminals to assist travellers.
The advisory comes as the national capital continues to experience dense fog and hazardous air quality. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 378 at around 8 am on Tuesday, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category and further impacting visibility during early morning hours.
