Guwahati: Assam marked a major milestone in healthcare innovation with the launch of ‘Medi JARVIS’, a Made-in-India robotic surgery machine, at the State Cancer Institute in Guwahati today.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the launch on social media, calling the machine a powerful tool for “the Iron Men and Women of real-life doctors”. In his post, CM Sarma highlighted that Medi JARVIS will assist in performing complex surgeries with enhanced precision and efficiency.
“We are all set to dedicate the Made-in-India Robotic Surgery Machine at the State Cancer Institute, which can execute complex surgeries with ease,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
This development adds to Assam’s growing reputation as a hub for advanced medical care in the region.
Separately, CM Sarma also addressed the media regarding recent security concerns following intelligence reports of possible unrest over the Waqf Amendment Act. He credited the Assam Police and community leaders for maintaining peace across the state.
“Despite strong intelligence inputs, Assam remained peaceful with only minor protests in three locations,” the CM said. He praised the proactive outreach by the police in coordinating with mosque committees and community leaders to prevent disruptions.
