Advocates Dialogue: Shaping a Brighter Future for Bihar

Patna, Bihar: The L.N. Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change was abuzz with insightful discussions in the evening of October 5, 2024, as it became witness to a program titled “Advocates Dialogue: Role of Advocates in Creating an Illustrious Future for Bihar.” This event was organised under the organisational banner of Let’s Inspire Bihar, a socio-cultural campaign, ideated by Bihar’s senior IPS officer, Mr. Vikas Vibhav.

The dialogue aimed at bringing together legal experts and stakeholders to explore the pivotal role of advocates in shaping the future of the state.

The event featured distinguished participants, including sitting judges of the Patna High Court, Justice Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, alongside respected retired judges Justice Sanjay Kumar, Justice Rajendra Prasad, and Justice Mridula Mishra. Their collective wisdom provided invaluable perspectives on the significance of the legal profession in fostering socio-economic development in Bihar.

In addition, the program was graced by notable figures from the legal fraternity, such as the Chairman of the Bihar Bar Council, Mr. Ramakant Sharma, President of the Advocates Association, Mr. Shailendra Singh, senior advocate Mr. Yogesh Chandra Verma, and Director of the Delhi-based Ambition Coaching Centre, Mr. Alok Ranjan.

Their contributions underscored the vital role that legal professionals play in upholding justice and contributing to the state’s advancement.

In a moment of profound reflection, the chief guest of the program, Justice Rajiv Ranjan Prasad of the Patna High Court, reminded the young advocates of the massive responsibility they carry on their shoulders in shaping a just and equal society. He urged the young advocates to work for the marginalised and downtrodden sections of society. 

Retired Justice Mridula Mishra, while speaking at the event, said that prevalent casteism in Bihar is preventing its development. She commended the role of Let’s Inspire Bihar for its positive contribution to society and praised the organisational principles of education, egalitarianism, and entrepreneurship. 

During the event, retired Justice Sanjay Kumar emphasised the historically significant role the advocates have played in nation-building and said that they have an equally important role to play in creating a bright future for Bihar.

Speaking at the occasion, retired justice Rajendra Prasad noted that advocates have an immense potential to become a catalyst of change in society. He also admired the efforts being made by Vikas Vaibhav in trying to create a bright future for the people of Bihar through his Let’s Inspire Bihar campaign. 

The Chairman of the Bar Council of Bihar, Mr. Ramakant Sharma, while addressing the audience, said that Let’s Inspire Bihar has an immense opportunity to serve society and praised the noble efforts being made by Vikas Vaibhav through his organisation.

Speaking on the theme, the President of the Advocate Association, Mr. Shailendra Singh, said that advocates have an important role to play in society. 

During the program, the Director of the Delhi-based Ambition Coaching Institute, Mr. Alok Ranjan, said that advocates are the pillars of justice and they have a crucial role to play in the creation of a better society. 

During the dialogue, participants discussed various strategies for enhancing the legal framework in Bihar, emphasising the importance of collaboration between the judiciary and advocates to address the pressing challenges faced by the state. The discussions also focused on empowering advocates to become catalysts for change, advocating for policies that promote justice, equality, and development.

“Today’s dialogue is a testament to our commitment to fostering an ecosystem that inspires change and progress in the State of Bihar premised upon the potentiality of its illustrious history and heritage,” said Vikas Vibhav. He further highlighted the role of the Let’s Inspire Bihar campaign in positively contributing to society in several ways, including through its advocacy chapters all across the state, in ensuring justice to the needy and poor. 

The event concluded with a call to action, encouraging advocates to actively engage in community service and advocacy efforts, reinforcing the notion that the legal profession holds the key to transformative change in Bihar.
