New Delhi, January 1:
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi on Thursday extended New Year greetings to the nation and underlined the Indian Army’s focus on “jointness, self-reliance, and innovation” as key pillars of its transformation. He also said that Operation Sindoor, launched last year, is continuing.

In a message shared on X by the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI), Indian Army, General Dwivedi said the Army is in the midst of a decade-long transformation aimed at making it more capable and future-ready. He emphasised the need to adopt indigenous technologies, new ideas, and data-driven systems to meet emerging security challenges.

“On the auspicious occasion of the New Year, on behalf of the Indian Army, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all fellow citizens. The Army continues to safeguard the nation with utmost vigilance and determination,” the COAS said.

Referring to security operations, General Dwivedi noted that the Army responded firmly to hostile actions last year under Operation Sindoor, adding that the operation remains underway. Alongside border vigilance, he highlighted the Army’s role in disaster response and nation-building efforts.

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.

The Army Chief further said that networking and data-centric capabilities are accelerating the transformation process. “Through effective use of indigenous technologies and continuous improvements, we are strengthening our strategic power,” he said, adding that public trust and cooperation remain the Army’s greatest strength.

Linking the Army’s efforts to the national vision, General Dwivedi said the force would continue contributing to security and development to help achieve the goal of a “Developed India by 2047.”

In recent months, the COAS has repeatedly stressed the importance of jointness and integration among the armed forces. In November 2025, after the commissioning of INS Mahe, he said modern conflicts would be multi-domain and hybrid, requiring unified national strength and close coordination among the services, with the Navy playing a key role both regionally and globally.
