The Aryavarth Express:
Mumbai (Maharashtra): Veteran actor Anupam Kher shared a heartfelt message to his younger self, reflecting on his life journey in an emotional post on social media.
On Wednesday, Kher posted a black-and-white photograph from his teenage years on Instagram. The image shows a young boy from Shimla, long before fame and film sets became part of his life.
In the caption, the actor wrote a touching letter addressed to his 16-year-old self, whom he affectionately called “Bittu.” Looking at the old photograph, Kher said he could see a boy with big dreams but also uncertainty about what the future might hold.
“Looking at you in this photograph, I see a young boy from Shimla with big dreams in his eyes and a lot of uncertainty in his heart. You don’t know it yet, but life is going to take you on an extraordinary journey,” he wrote.
Kher reflected on how his life eventually took him from the quiet hills of Shimla to stages, studios and screens around the world. He noted that the journey included success, criticism, failure and many moments that tested his courage.
Despite decades of fame and global recognition, the actor said he still feels like the same small-town boy who believed that “anything is possible.”
“After all these years, I am still you — the same small-town boy who believed that ‘kuch bhi ho sakta hai,’” he added.
Now in his seventies, Kher wrote that he still approaches life with excitement and feels as if he is only at the “interval point” of his journey. He also said that remaining true to oneself is the greatest victory, even when the world tries to change you.
Kher began his acting career with the film Saaransh in 1984 and has since appeared in more than 500 films over four decades.
On the professional front, he will next be seen in Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, the sequel to the 2006 film directed by Dibakar Banerjee. The actor is also working on other upcoming projects, including the film Fauzi, which stars Prabhas.
