The Aryavarth Express : Veteran actor Anupam Kher revealed that he performed his autobiographical play Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai despite suffering from a sprained foot, describing the show as a “triumph against all odds.”
Sharing moments from a packed auditorium in Mumbai on Sunday, Anupam Kher said he was in “extreme pain” before stepping on stage. He admitted feeling stressed due to both the injury and the pressure of performing before a full house.
“Last night at my play Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai was truly a triumph against all odds. My foot was in extreme pain before the show. Every step reminded me of it. But the moment the lights came on and the play began… I forgot. Completely,” he wrote.
Reflecting on the phrase “The Show Must Go On,” Anupam Kher said courage lies not in the absence of pain but in moving forward despite it. He described live theatre as an experience filled with immediacy and energy that leaves no room to hide.
“Theatre has a joy, an immediacy, an energy that no other medium can replicate. It demands presence. And in that presence, pain dissolves,” he shared, crediting the audience’s energy for helping him push through the discomfort.
Kher added that performing the play, which recounts his life journey including failures, rejections and doubts, is deeply therapeutic. He said narrating his story before a supportive audience offers him a sense of healing.
Beyond the stage, Kher recently posted a birthday tribute to filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya, calling him a “national treasure.” The two are currently collaborating on an upcoming film, marking Kher’s 549th project. The actor had earlier expressed happiness about reuniting with Barjatya, recalling their long professional association that dates back to his debut film Saaransh, when Barjatya worked as an assistant to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.
Details about the new film, including its title and cast, are yet to be announced.
