New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey has praised NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar for presenting detailed information about the circumstances of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s plane crash, saying that the work Rohit Pawar did over the past 12–13 days should have been carried out by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

On Thursday, Dubey expressed concerns over the role of the DGCA, the CID, and other investigative agencies, and said the probe should be overseen by a retired Supreme Court judge.

“We saw that presentation. It was a very good study. In the last twelve to thirteen days, he collected a lot of information, which the DGCA should have done. Today, whether it is the DGCA, CBI, or CID, what are they doing? From the very first day, we have said the investigation should be monitored by a retired Supreme Court judge. Ajit Dada Pawar was not an ordinary leader. He was a great leader. How did this happen? This information should be shared with the public through a press conference,” Dubey said.

Earlier, Rohit Pawar had questioned the circumstances of Ajit Pawar’s plane crash, suggesting it could be a conspiracy. Speaking at a press conference on the Baramati air crash, he said, “Entire Maharashtra is questioning whether Ajit Dada’s plane crash was an accident or a conspiracy. Some people are still expecting him to return. Some say six people were in the aircraft and question whether it was really his body. It still feels like a nightmare.”

Rohit Pawar highlighted the atmosphere of suspicion, grief, and political intrigue surrounding the incident. He also cited a book that mentions how targeting a driver can be a way to harm someone.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged political leaders not to politicise Ajit Pawar’s death and assured that a thorough investigation into the Baramati plane crash is underway.

Ajit Pawar died in the crash on January 28 in Baramati, Maharashtra. According to the DGCA, all five people on board—including the crew—died when the chartered plane, flying from Mumbai to Baramati, crash-landed near the runway threshold.
