Review Overview

The Aryavarth Express Thiruvananthapuram, April 6: Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah led a roadshow in Alappuzha Assembly constituency on Monday, intensifying the party’s campaign just days before the Kerala Assembly elections scheduled for April 9.

Earlier in the day,Amit Shah attended the Bharatiya Janata Party’s 47th Foundation Day celebrations at the party office in Thiruvananthapuram. The event saw participation from party leaders and workers, who marked the occasion by hoisting the party flag and singing Vande Mataram. His visit highlighted the BJP’s efforts to expand its footprint in the state ahead of the polls.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed party workers via video conference, praising their dedication and resilience. He noted that BJP workers have endured hardships ranging from the period of the Emergency to political violence in states like West Bengal, all while continuing to serve the nation.

Recalling the political climate after the 1984 general elections, Modi said that despite the Congress party’s sweeping victory at the time, public trust gradually shifted toward the BJP due to unmet expectations. He emphasized the contrast between “power-driven politics” and “service-driven politics,” positioning the BJP as rooted in the latter.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the influence of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in shaping the party’s cadre-based structure and values. He described the Foundation Day as an emotional moment for party members, calling the BJP a “mother” that provides an opportunity to serve the nation.

The BJP, established on April 6, 1980, traces its origins to the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which merged into the Janata Party after the Emergency before eventually re-emerging as the BJP following internal differences. Since its formation, the party has produced two Prime Ministers—Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi.
