Allegations of Financial Irregularities Rock Maheshwari Sabha in Bengaluru

Bengaluru (Karnataka): Serious allegations of financial misconduct have surfaced against the office bearers of the Maheshwari Sabha, Bengaluru branch. Accused of being intoxicated by power, the organization’s leadership has allegedly indulged in unethical practices, bringing embarrassment to the respected Maheshwari community.

In 2018, the Maheshwari Sabha subscribed to the Hindi weekly newspaper “Samachar Parivartan” for all its registered members. The complete membership list was officially shared via email with Deekshansh Publications by the then authorized representative, Mr. Anand Rathi, with a copy marked to the then president, Mr. Nirmal Tapdiya.

A few months later, in July 2019, an updated list of 16 additional members was sent to ensure complete newspaper distribution. Despite Samachar Parivartan continuing to deliver its service for an entire year, Maheshwari Sabha reportedly failed to clear its dues — even after repeated reminders from the publication.

From 2018 to 2024, none of the presidents or secretaries of the Sabha took responsibility for settling the pending payments. Consequently, Samachar Parivartan issued a legal notice on October 24, 2025, demanding payment of the outstanding amount along with interest. If the dues remain unpaid, the publication plans to initiate legal proceedings and police complaints against all past and current presidents and vice-presidents from 2018 onwards to recover the pending amount.

It is deeply shameful, observers say, that a well-established and financially sound community organization would resort to such negligence. The incident raises serious questions about the integrity and accountability of its leadership.

“This is not just about unpaid dues — it reflects a moral lapse that tarnishes the image of the entire Maheshwari community,” said a senior community member who requested anonymity.

The silence of senior members on this issue has further fueled disappointment among society members who expected greater transparency and ethics from their leaders.
