Ferozepur, Punjab: A private school bus carrying 20 students fell into a drain near Arman Pura village in Ferozepur district on Saturday morning. Fortunately, all the children on board were unharmed and did not sustain any serious injuries, according to SSP Bhupendra Singh.
The incident occurred while the bus was on its way to drop the students off at school. SSP Bhupendra Singh confirmed that there were no major injuries among the children. “All students are safe. Immediate actions were taken based on statements from the parents when the police arrived at the scene,” he said.
Legal proceedings are underway, and a case is being registered by the police. Singh further mentioned that authorities are coordinating with the Road Transport Authority (RTA), traffic wing, and DSP subdivisions to ensure school buses are regularly checked. Any bus found unfit for road use will be taken off the road by the RTA in coordination with the school.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his concern on social media, stating that the administration was present at the site of the accident and actively involved in rescue operations. He also prayed for the safety and well-being of everyone involved. “Tragic news has come in about a private school bus with children falling into the Sem canal in Ferozepur. Administration teams are on the scene, and I am receiving continuous updates on the relief efforts. I pray to the Almighty for everyone’s safety,” he wrote.
