New Delhi: An Air India flight traveling from Birmingham to New Delhi was diverted to Riyadh on Saturday after a bomb threat was reported onboard. Flight AI-114 landed safely in the Saudi capital, where a thorough security check was conducted, the airline confirmed on Sunday.
“Flight AI114 from Birmingham to Delhi on June 21 received a bomb threat and was consequently diverted to Riyadh, where it landed safely and completed security checks,” an Air India spokesperson stated. No threats were found after inspection, and all passengers and crew are safe.
In a separate incident on the same day, an Air India Express flight from Delhi to Patna (IX1014) was diverted to Varanasi due to adverse weather conditions. The airline said the flight resumed its journey to Patna once conditions improved. “We regret the delay caused by circumstances beyond our control,” the spokesperson added.
Additionally, Air India faced disruptions on Friday, cancelling multiple domestic and international flights due to a combination of bad weather, increased aircraft maintenance checks, and airspace restrictions. Affected routes included flights between Dubai, Chennai, Delhi, Melbourne, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

Air India has assured passengers of full refunds or complimentary rescheduling options. “We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused. Our teams are working to ensure alternate arrangements for affected passengers as quickly as possible,” the airline said.
