New Delhi: Air India has expressed its appreciation to authorities in Ulaanbaatar, the Indian Embassy in Mongolia, the DGCA, and the Government of India for their assistance in ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers aboard flight AI174.
The San Francisco–Delhi flight made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar International Airport in Mongolia after the crew detected a possible technical issue mid-flight. Passengers were safely disembarked, provided with meals and hotel accommodation, and later flown to Delhi on a relief flight, which landed safely this morning.
An Air India spokesperson said the airline was grateful to all agencies involved for their swift support and care for the stranded passengers and crew. The spokesperson added that passenger safety and well-being remain Air India’s top priority, and thanked passengers for their patience and understanding during the diversion.
Air India reiterated its regret for the inconvenience caused by the diversion, emphasizing that the decision was taken purely out of an abundance of caution to ensure passenger safety.
