Los Angeles: Actor David Harbour will not attend Netflix’s grand finale event for Stranger Things, following reports surrounding his recent behaviour, according to People.
Harbour, who was scheduled to appear at the Stranger Things: The Final Season Celebration in New York, is no longer listed among the expected attendees. He is also absent from the screening and panel discussion lineup mentioned on the event’s official website. As per People, the actor will miss the event due to a “scheduling conflict.”
His absence comes shortly after the show’s lead star, Millie Bobby Brown, also opted out of attending the celebration after sustaining a recent injury.
Harbour has recently been in the spotlight amid controversy. Speculation had earlier surfaced about Brown allegedly filing a harassment complaint against him; however, both actors addressed and dismissed the rumours during the Stranger Things UK premiere.
Speaking about her co-star, Brown praised Harbour, who plays her on-screen father figure Jim Hopper. “It’s been amazing. We’re so lucky to have each other. The show means so much to both of us, and to everyone here. This has been the last 10 years of our lives,” she said, as quoted by Deadline.
Separately, a video circulating online showed Harbour involved in an altercation on the street, during which he was seen running with a bar patron’s hat. According to TMZ, the actor threw the hat to the ground, spoke about the Iraq War, and later fell to his knees in prayer.
A source commented that Harbour has previously been open about managing bipolar disorder. “It wouldn’t be surprising if that’s what he’s dealing with, especially after working nonstop and having his personal life under intense public scrutiny,” the source said.
David Harbour currently stars in the fifth and final season of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things. Following the release of Volume 1, fans are eagerly awaiting Volume 2, scheduled to drop on December 25. The recently released trailer teases an all-out battle in Hawkins, with residents taking on Vecna and his army of Demogorgons from the Upside Down.
The series finale is set to premiere on New Year’s Eve.
