Kamareddy, Telangana: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out a surprise raid at the Road Transport Authority (RTA) checkpoint in Pondurthi village of Bhiknoor Mandal, Kamareddy district on Wednesday, resulting in the seizure of ₹52,000 in unaccounted cash.

According to an official press release by the ACB, the raid was conducted at around 9 a.m. During the inspection, officials recovered ₹16,000 from Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (AMVI) Sam Richardson and ₹9,000 from private agent G. Shiva Kumar. An additional ₹4,000 was discovered hidden inside an office file folder.

The ACB observed that several drivers were seen handing over cash to pass through the checkpoint, indicating a well-established system of illegal collections. During the inspection itself, a total of ₹23,000 was found at the site, with further investigations expected to uncover more.

Officials also noted that five unauthorized private individuals had been engaged to assist with the checkpointoperations. Four of them were found present at the time of the raid. These individuals were reportedly stopping vehicles and collecting money from drivers under the supervision—or neglect—of the RTA staff.

The ACB stated that RTA officials had deliberately neglected their duties, facilitating the extortion of money from drivers and vehicle owners through these agents.

A detailed report will be submitted to the state government, with recommendations for action against those involved.
