Dr. Prashant Goenka hails from a distinguished lineage deeply rooted in Indian journalism and business leadership. He is the son of Late Shri BalKrishna Goenka and the great-grandson of Late Shri Janki Das Goenka.

He is the grandson of Late Shri Baijnath Goenka and Late Shri Ramnath Goenka, the legendary founder of The Indian Express and a stalwart in Indian journalism.
His paternal uncles include Late Shri Radhakrishna Goenka, Late Shri Hariram Goenka, Late Shri Bhagawandas Goenka, and Late Shri Sitaram Goenka.
His aunts are Smt. Rukmani Kedia, Smt. Krishna Khetan, and Smt. Radhadevi Sonthalia.
