The Aryavarth Express:
Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir), April 10: In a major push to strengthen rural services and generate employment, the government has established 140 Kisan Khidmat Ghar (KKG) centres across Rajouri district, covering all 312 panchayats.
According to Agriculture Department officer and KKG Nodal Officer Ravi Sharma, the initiative aims to provide farmers with a single access point for essential agricultural inputs and services. The centres were strategically set up by grouping one to three panchayats together, with 140 locations finalised out of 160 shortlisted sites.
Each centre has been equipped with infrastructure support worth approximately ₹8.5 lakh. The government also ensured local employment by inviting applications from educated youth, particularly graduates and diploma holders in agriculture, horticulture, and sericulture. Selected candidates are now managing these centres, contributing to livelihood opportunities in rural areas.
The Kisan Khidmat Ghars function as comprehensive service hubs, offering farmers easy access to seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides. They also provide digital connectivity through platforms like the Daksh Kisan Portal for skill development and the Kisan Sathi Portal, which enables farmers to apply for over 120 government schemes.
Additionally, the centres are equipped with micro-ATMs and POS machines, allowing farmers to carry out digital transactions and access financial services such as the Kisan Credit Card (KCC). Farmers can also benefit from expert guidance on soil health, crop management, and plant diseases, along with real-time market prices and crop forecasting.

Officials say the initiative is expected to significantly enhance agricultural support while boosting employment across the district.
