Hyderabad (Telangana), April 10: Police have registered a case against a woman residing in Kondapur, Hyderabad, for allegedly posting objectionable content on WhatsApp that targeted Hindu deities and hurt religious sentiments.
The complaint was lodged by Vishal Kumar, a private employee, who alleged that the woman shared derogatory remarks through her WhatsApp status and in an apartment group. According to the complaint, the posts contained offensive phrases directed at Hindu deities.
Police said the complaint was received on April 6 from the complainant, a resident of Shanthinagar North Lalaguda, Secunderabad. He stated that on April 2, at around 10 pm, he was informed by an acquaintance that the woman, identified as Sumitha, had uploaded abusive content on her WhatsApp status. He further alleged that she had earlier posted a message in the apartment group in response to a photo of a cow.
Authorities also stated that CCTV footage reportedly shows the woman damaging pots and throwing Tulsi plants.

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under Sections 353(2), 299, and 196 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said an investigation is underway, adding that the alleged actions could hurt religious sentiments and potentially disturb public peace.
