The Aryavarth Express Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 1 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday flagged off 250 electric and CNG-powered vehicles in Lucknow to strengthen waste management under the Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
Addressing the event, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the transformation of the city over the past nine years, noting improvements in infrastructure, living standards, and public safety. He stated that Lucknow has expanded significantly, with developments such as metro services contributing to a better quality of life for residents.
Emphasising sustainable growth, Yogi Adityanath said the government is focusing on green energy and solar integration. He pointed out that Ayodhya has already been developed as a solar city, and similar efforts are underway to make Lucknow solar-equipped.
On urban safety, the Chief Minister cited the implementation of Smart City initiatives, including widespread installation of LED street lights and surveillance systems. He said 18 municipal bodies have been integrated into an Integrated Command and Control Center through CCTV networks, enhancing security and monitoring.
Adityanath also announced plans to transition city bus services to electric vehicles, further reinforcing the state’s commitment to environmentally friendly public transport.
Earlier, he reiterated the government’s vision of achieving “Zero Waste to Zero Carbon Emissions,” crediting the leadership of Narendra Modi for guiding Uttar Pradesh toward sustainable and smart urban development.
Describing the newly flagged-off vehicles as a symbol of the “double-engine government’s” commitment, the Chief Minister said they would play a key role in improving waste management and accelerating efforts to make Lucknow cleaner, greener, and more efficient.
