Rajouri, April 1: Residents of the Nowshera block in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district are witnessing a significant improvement in their daily lives as multiple development projects gain momentum in the region.
Under various centrally sponsored schemes, authorities are rapidly upgrading infrastructure in several remote and border villages. Key works include the construction of roads, footpaths, culverts, and protective bunkers—aimed at enhancing connectivity, safety, and overall living conditions for people living near the Line of Control.
Improved road networks and pathways are making it easier for residents to access essential services such as healthcare, education, and local markets. At the same time, new culverts are helping ensure better drainage and smoother transportation, particularly during the rainy season.
A major highlight of the initiative is the construction of individual and community bunkers. These structures are providing much-needed security to villagers during instances of cross-border firing, significantly reducing fear and risk.
Locals have welcomed the developments, saying they address long-standing challenges faced by border communities. A resident named Sureshta expressed gratitude for the availability of bunkers in homes and schools, noting that they have brought a sense of safety even during firing incidents.
An ex-serviceman, Depty Lal, also praised the efforts, calling the provision of bunkers a crucial step toward protecting lives in the region.
Overall, the ongoing projects reflect a focused effort by the government to strengthen infrastructure and improve the safety and well-being of people living in sensitive border areas.
