Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 26: The second Women in Entertainment Power List 2026, presented by The Hollywood Reporter India, brought together some of the most influential women from film, television, music, digital platforms, and new media on Wednesday evening.
The event saw the presence of renowned personalities including Guneet Monga, Kiran Rao, Sonam Bajwa, Nitanshi Goel, and Sayani Gupta, celebrating women making significant contributions to the entertainment industry.
Speaking on the current landscape for women filmmakers, producer Guneet Monga emphasized the need for greater opportunities. “If you look at the stats, around 2,500 films are made every year, and less than 7% are directed by women. Recognition like this is very important so that more women can get opportunities,” she said.
Filmmaker Kiran Rao reflected on the industry’s evolution over the years. “A lot has changed. When I started in the film industry, there were very few women on sets. Today, 25 years later, we have women directors, producers, cinematographers, writers, composers — it’s very different now. It will continue to change, and I hope it does,” she added.
Actor Sonam Bajwa, happy to feature on the list, also spoke about the success of her recent film Dhurandhar: The Revenge. “I feel really good. For me, it’s a big deal to be included in this list. Dhurandhar 2 has broken records and is performing amazingly well. Congratulations to the whole team,” she said.
Nitanshi Goel, known for Laapataa Ladies, highlighted the importance of celebrating women in cinema. “This event is to celebrate women in cinema, and some very inspiring women are present here today. Cinema has changed a lot in terms of storytelling, characters, and overall filmmaking,” she noted.
Actor Sayani Gupta acknowledged progress but stressed that there is more work ahead. “Things have changed, but I feel it hasn’t changed as much as it should. There’s still a lot to improve. But this space and event remind us that better times are coming, and hopefully we’ll get even more opportunities in the future,” she said.
The evening celebrated women across the entertainment industry — actors, filmmakers, producers, and creators — recognizing those who are making their mark and opening doors for the next generation of talent.
