Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 24 : The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced India’s women’s squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa, scheduled from April 17 to April 27.
Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side, with Smriti Mandhana serving as vice-captain. The batting lineup features key players like Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, along with Bharti Fulmali, Uma Chetry, and newcomer Anushka Sharma.
Anushka earns her maiden international call-up after an impressive season with Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League, scoring 177 runs in seven innings. Her performances made her one of the standout players for the franchise, despite their playoff exit against Delhi Capitals.
The squad also boasts a balanced bowling attack. Spinners Shreyanka Patil and Shree Charani join forces with Deepti, while the pace unit includes Renuka Thakur, Arundhati Reddy, and Kranti Gaud.
The series will begin with the first two matches in Durban on April 17 and 19. The action then moves to Johannesburg for games on April 22 and 25, before concluding in Benoni on April 27.
