Hyderabad (Telangana): Mailardevpally Police carried out a late-night raid on an illegally operating hookah centre in Vatepally on Sunday, detaining 10 individuals and seizing multiple items from the premises.
According to police officials, the raid led to the confiscation of 12 hookah pots—three large and nine small—along with 12 pipes and two boxes of coal. Authorities also recovered various smoking materials, including apple-flavoured tobacco and boxes of Al Fauz and Al Fakher brands. A smartphone was also seized during the operation.
The establishment was found to be operating without the required permissions or licenses and was located in a residential area, raising further concerns.
Police identified the main accused as 23-year-old Mohd Tanweer, who was allegedly managing the hookah setup at the site. All 10 individuals present during the raid were detained for questioning.
Officials stated that legal action is being initiated against those responsible for running the illegal establishment. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rajendra Nagar Zone) emphasized that operating hookah centres without proper authorization is a violation of the law and will invite strict action.
Police also reiterated that regular enforcement drives and inspections will continue to prevent such unlawful activities and urged the public to comply with legal regulations.
