Mumbai (Maharashtra); A spectacular fusion of fashion and cinema at Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI 2026, as actors Tamannaah Bhatia and Shanaya Kapoor stole the spotlight as showstoppers for designers Bhumika Sharma and Ritika Mirchandani.
Tamannaah wowed the audience in a modern lehenga by Bhumika Sharma, featuring a deep red base with delicate silver floral embroidery, a sculpted corset-style bodice, and a voluminous skirt. Bold green-toned jewellery completed the striking look.
Reflecting on the event, Tamannaah noted that collaborations between fashion and art are making the industry more diverse, offering a glimpse into emerging trends and what people might wear in the future.
Celebrating 20 years in films, she reflected on her journey as one of constant learning. As an artist and entrepreneur, she said she focuses on creating for the future, particularly through her jewellery ventures, while deepening her understanding of her craft.
Tamannaah also spoke about her upcoming film Vvan, where she stars alongside Sidharth Malhotra. The folk-mythological thriller blends traditional storytelling with contemporary elements. She emphasized her love for commercial cinema that entertains families while imparting cultural and traditional insights.
The story follows a rational urban man who ventures into his ancestral forest, awakens a divine force, and ultimately becomes the protector of his village. The film also features Maniesh Paul, Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari, and Anup Soni, directed by Deepak Mishra with writing by Arunabh Kumar.
On the fashion front, Bhumika Sharma’s “Afterglow” collection celebrated romance and femininity through richly detailed ensembles, while Ritika Mirchandani’s “Confluence” showcased the harmony between tradition and modernity with fluid silhouettes and intricate craftsmanship.
Shanaya Kapoor closed the show in a contemporary cocktail saree by Mirchandani, featuring a pre-draped silhouette, high-slit skirt, and detailed embellishments, transforming a classic Indian garment into a modern fashion statement.
The event highlighted a growing trend in Indian fashion, blending heritage with innovation, while underscoring the enduring connection between cinema, culture, and personal expression.
