The Aryavarth Express New Delhi [India], March 19: The Supreme Court of India has quashed criminal proceedings against YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav in a case concerning the alleged smuggling and consumption of snake venom.
A bench comprising Justices MM Sundresh and N. Kotiswar Singh observed procedural lapses in the filing of the complaint and the FIR, stating that they “cannot be sustained in law.” The Court added, “We are not going into other issues raised. The proceedings stand quashed.”
Yadav had approached the Supreme Court seeking the quashing of both the chargesheet filed against him and the summons issued in the case.
In May 2025, the Allahabad High Court had rejected his plea, noting that the allegations required a detailed legal examination due to multiple FIRs being registered.
The FIR, filed at Police Station Sector-49, Noida, Gautam Buddh Nagar, had charged Elvish Yadav under various sections of the Wildlife Protection Act, the Indian Penal Code, and the NDPS Act. A summons had also been issued by the First Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar.
Elvish Yadav contended that the informant was not competent to lodge an FIR under the Wildlife Protection Act and pointed out that no snake, narcotic, or psychotropic substance had been recovered from him. He further argued that, as a prominent television personality, the case received disproportionate media attention, which influenced police action.
