Noida (Uttar Pradesh): Cadence Design Systems has announced the appointment of Dr. Alok Jain as Managing Director for its India operations, reinforcing its focus on expanding innovation and strengthening the country’s semiconductor ecosystem.
In his new role, Dr. Jain will lead Cadence’s strategic growth in India, with an emphasis on scaling operations, boosting innovation, and deepening collaboration with government bodies, academia, and industry stakeholders.
Announcing the appointment, Anirudh Devgan, President and CEO of Cadence, highlighted India’s importance in the company’s global strategy. He noted that Dr. Jain’s extensive experience and leadership would help accelerate innovation and strengthen engagement with India’s rapidly growing semiconductor sector.
With over 35 years of industry experience, Dr. Jain has been associated with Cadence since 1997 and most recently served as Vice President in the System Verification Group. He has played a key role in building and expanding the company’s Noida operations, contributing to the development of advanced technology solutions.
Dr. Jain is also actively involved in industry bodies such as the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association and the VLSI Society of India. He holds a B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and advanced degrees from Carnegie Mellon University. He has authored over 30 technical papers and holds multiple patents in verification technologies.
India continues to be a critical hub for Cadence, with more than 30% of its global workforce based in the country, largely focused on core R&D and product development. The company has consistently been featured among India’s top workplaces by the Great Place to Work Institute.
Since establishing its presence in India in 1987, Cadence has played a significant role in developing the semiconductor ecosystem. It has collaborated with institutions such as the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and leading IITs, while also supporting initiatives like the Chips to Startup (C2S) programme to build a strong chip design talent pipeline.
With Dr. Jain at the helm, Cadence aims to further strengthen its contribution to India’s semiconductor ambitions and global innovation efforts.
