The Aryavarth Express:
New Delhi: After the successful arrival of the LPG carrier Shivalik in India, another LPG tanker, Nanda Devi, carrying around 46,000 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), is scheduled to reach Kandla Port in Gujarat on Tuesday.
According to the vessel’s Chief Officer, the operation was coordinated by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and the Shipping Corporation of India, with support from both the Indian Navy and the Iranian Navy to safely cross the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route.
The officer thanked all agencies involved in the mission and confirmed that the vessel has safely passed through the Strait and is now heading towards Kandla. He said the LPG shipment will play an important role in supporting India’s energy needs during the ongoing global supply concerns caused by tensions in West Asia.
This is the second LPG carrier to reach India after safely navigating the Strait of Hormuz. On Monday, the LPG carrier Shivalik arrived at Mundra Port in Gujarat with nearly 40,000 metric tonnes of LPG. Out of this, about 20,000 tonnes will be unloaded at Mundra, while the remaining 26,000 tonnes will be transported to Mangalore.
Meanwhile, another Indian-flagged vessel, Jag Laadki, which departed from the United Arab Emirates, is currently on its way to India carrying approximately 81,000 tonnes of Murban crude oil.
Officials also confirmed that all Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf region are safe, and no incidents have been reported in the past 24 hours. At present, 22 Indian-flagged vessels with around 611 seafarers remain in the Persian Gulf region.
